I remember when I first started reading the posts that most people writing them seemed to have an axe to grind with the organization and I was very skepticle of what I was reading, apostates i thought. But I kept reading, and every now and then some statement made could be verified using either the orgs. own literature or just common sense. Then I came across the UN thing and WOW that did it for me. No turning back, no maybe its the Truth, it was over for me at the moment I verified that it was indeed true.

I've been living in North Carolina for a while now... can't imagine ever leaving... climate is mild... not much rain and even less snow... I especially love the seasons. it's spectacular here. Go west and you're in the Smokey Mountains go right and you're at the beach (Atlantic Ocean). If your husband plays golf this is paradise. More golf courses here then anywhere.

this JW thinks theres really no point in even trying because, quote, "one person can't change anything".
I wish they applied this same reasoning to field service.

Hi city Girl,
Welcome to the board, I think that it's great that you found the man of your dreams. Be carefull that you are not blinded by that love. If you intend to have children together and that child, God forbid, gets hurt and needs blood, as a witness you could not let him have it or you would be disfellowshipped and shunned. So you see that to be a Witness or not can be a life or death decision.
Good luck,

I have said them, I have even chalenged people at the door that if they could prove the society wrong then I would become what they were. I sincerly thought I had the truth. That all changed when I found out that the org. was in bed with the UN. THEY made me question things. THEY started me wondering if it really was the truth. THEY made me think - if they are doing this behind my back, then what else. That's when I started having doubts. I found a letter on the UN website (not some "apostate" site) wrote a letter to the society to get answers and got none that's when I decided this is not God's organization so I started to look at things anew, without blinders. If something bothered me I researched outside the org. literature. I was a witness for 26 years, (I still am in fact, just trying to fade out so as not to loose my family). So I think there is hope it may take a while but we all have doubts even your husband, be patient.

I SALUTE YOU ALL!
by new boy ini have been on and off this forum for 4 1/2 years.
its a nice place to vist ---------------but i can't live here.. i think i have made peace with my 52 years as a "watchtower slave" and as chris said in the movie "platoon"--------"but it will always be with me in my heart and my mine"----------------and as he said also "we now have a duty to help others, so maybe they will not have to experience the waste years as we have".. so let us be patient with all who visit here.----------- because i think of myself, many years ago, at 21 years old, the self rightious nazis jw.
who if i met today, would have no problem pouring gas on me and setting me on fire!-----------most people need time to figure this all out------it took me 52 years -----------yes thats right "the dub"ist person on the board.----------everything happens at the right time.

Help needed
by return visitor inin reading coc i learned that prior to the 1980's it was ok to speak with disassociated witnesses and that this was changed in the 1980's.
while i can find the article in the 80's that addresses the issue, i can't find anything that shows that it is a change.
can anyone direct me to something published by the organization that reflects their teaching before the change?.

Thanks for all of your help, however the question still remains:
Can anyone direct me to something published by the organization that reflects their teaching before the change?
Particularly their teaching pertaining to disassociated people (not necessarily family).
